Providing a seamless onboarding process for the applicants to the Google Developers Experts program

Google Developers Experts gathers experienced developers and product specialists who actively support online tech communities such as Stack Overflow and GitHub. The Google Developers Experts App developed by nexocode is a tool to help recruit new Experts and support the active ones through gathering strategic feedback.

Process & Story

Problem

The client’s management process for Google Developers Experts was originally based on various forms and spreadsheets. This proved inefficient and challenging to manage as the needs grew far beyond the capacity of the solution. The client realized they needed a custom tool and chose to partner with nexocode as their software development company.

Solution

Following Agile methodology, we built the application incrementally, gradually replace the client’s old solution with a new go-to tool and source of truth for other supporting systems.

The solution – Google Developers Experts App – was a massive help in streamlining the recruitment process for new applicants. The client’s program managers were finally able to process hundreds of new applications more efficiently, unlocking the Program for easier scalability.

Prior to partnering with nexocode, the client had two unsuccessful attempts to create an engaging solution for active experts. The solution built into the Google Developers Experts App showed the nexocode team’s technological proficiency and product design capabilities. The Design Sprints and testing phases involved dev teams, designers, and users in order to co-create functionalities that work both for the Experts (by regularly reporting their activities) and Program Management (offering insights into Experts’ activities and their impact).

The new system is much more efficient and easier to develop and maintain. The onboarding process for new clients is also now much easier and faster.

Seamless statistics serving from various app modules
Our client needed processed impact statistics served dynamically without compromising user experience to track processes and engagement.

Real-time experience
Searchable and filterable modules needed real-time services for smooth UX and performance.

Syncing with Github and StackExchange statistics and ensuring the resilience of the application.
