Computer Vision Solutions Development - Your Questions Answered

What is computer vision (CV)?

Computer vision or CV is the field of artificial intelligence that deals with training computers to interpret and understand digital images, videos, and other visual data. This is done through the use of algorithms that enable the computer to identify objects, faces, text, movement, and other features within an image or video.

What are the benefits of applying computer vision solutions?

There are many benefits to using computer vision technologies in business, including:

  • improving product quality by automating manual image analysis tasks such as object detection, tracking, and classification
  • reducing costs through automated image labeling, data extraction, and data segmentation
  • enabling more effective marketing and customer analytics through the use of image recognition and analysis tools to better understand consumer preferences and behaviors
  • enhancing security by integrating image analysis for surveillance or automated content moderation
  • saved time and money through automation of workflows such as OCR document processing, and manual data entry
What is the difference between machine learning and computer vision?

Machine learning is a subfield of artificial intelligence that deals with the design and development of algorithms that can learn from data. Computer vision is a subfield of machine learning that deals with the design and development of algorithms that can understand and process visual data.

Will a computer vision system bring value to my company?

Thoroughly understanding your business needs is critical to determining whether a computer vision project will bring value to your company. As a general statement, computer vision can be applied to many industries and business functions to improve quality, efficiency, and security.

There is no guarantee, however, that a custom computer vision software will get this expected value or the total cost will not be too high to handle. That is why a detailed planning phase and an iterative approach are crucial in every AI-based project. Only in this way will you be able to predict the cost, income, and break-even points of your development. There are ways to reduce the risk of not getting value from AI solutions. nexocode's approach is based on a deep understanding of the needs of the projects and the possibilities of current AI technologies coupled with the iterative process. Our project methodology focuses on delivering value as early as possible and starting small with AI Proof of Concept development.

You can find out more about how to turn AI into a profitable investment in our article on theROI of AI. Our team will help you leverage the latest AI tools and methodologies to create practical data-driven applications that deliver real business value.

How much data do I need for a computer vision project?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. The amount of data required for computer vision software will depend on the type of task you are trying to accomplish, the complexity of the task, and the available resources. However, it is advisable to have as much data as possible when working on deep learning projects, as more data will allow the algorithm to learn and improve its performance.

Our Data Scientists are experienced in providing preliminary Data Quality Audits and in preparing a dedicated data collection strategy for our clients.

I have a lot of data. Can nexocode help me clean and prepare it for computer vision?

We are experienced in working with a wide variety of data sources and formats. We can help you clean and prepare your data for image analysis. Our team can also help you not only with preprocessing or data labeling but also with designing and implementing a custom data collection strategy tailored to your specific needs.

How much does it cost to develop a computer vision solution?

Wisely navigating the complexities of computer vision development requires specialized expertise and experience. At nexocode, we have a team of experienced computer vision engineers who can help you evaluate your needs and determine an optimal approach for your project. The cost of developing computer vision solutions will depend on a number of factors, including the complexity and scope of the project, the technology used or the need for additional integrations. Whichever approach you choose, we will work with you to find the right balance between cost and quality and ensure that your project stays on track. To estimate your custom computer vision product idea, get in touch today!

Which programming languages and frameworks are used to build computer vision solutions?

Choosing which technology should be used to build computer vision solutions will depend on the specific task you are trying to accomplish and the technology that you want to use or already use within other services. At nexocode, we have experience using a variety of different programming languages and frameworks, including Python, Keras, TensorFlow, Google Cloud ML Engine, and OpenCV. We prefer a technology-agnostic approach to make sure to select the computer vision techniques, platforms, and libraries that work best for your task.

How to integrate computer vision solutions with internal systems?

Many companies already have a large investment in internal systems and data. nexocode can help you leverage this investment by integrating computer vision solutions with your existing systems. Our computer vision experts have experience working with a variety of different technologies and can help you determine the best way to integrate computer vision into your existing system and ensure that the integration is executed seamlessly.
